Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary School is 100 Years Old This Year
Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary School is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. However, it will not see 101 years in its current form. As of June 2026, Grandview is building a new school in its current location. The construction management firm Elford Inc. will lead the project. Interestingly, Elford was the firm that constructed the school in 1926. A rising population drove the construction of the school at that time. In 1920, there were 130 pupils registered in the elementary schools. By 1928, student enrollment had grown to 628.
Preserving the Past:
First & Grandview District Inventory
Society evaluated 18 key buildings within the First and Grandview District—an area currently under active planning by the City of Grandview Heights.
These properties, identified in the plan as “redevelopment opportunities,” were assessed for their architectural and historic value. The survey’s focus was on providing relevant background to guide the City’s redevelopment decisions and preserve community character.
