Possible Projects

The list is a living document. In 2022, the Board identified its top six preferences for projects as noted by numbers in parantheses.

Recognize the Society's 50th anniversary in 2024 (the library turns 100 the same year)

(5) Review and update Society tri-fold informational brochure

(4) Publish a book of Moment in Time articles

Publish a book of all Tour of Homes brochures

(2) Publish an updated Sheltering a Heritage

Publish an updated Final Salute (library wants to partner with this)

(3) Place a sculpture by a local area artist denoting GH/MC historical event/person in a city park, at new school, the library or on a major throughway

(6) Fund an historical mural on one side of breezeway (with better lighting)

Fund an annual scholarship for history-bound/interested student, or student that helps us with a project in a given year

Coordinate with the Ohio History Connection for the annual History Day Contest (grades 4 - 12)

Fund Society display space in library: museum room and public area display (library encourages these)

Fund historical display space in new Grandview Heights City Hall (2023, mayor indicates not likely due to cuts in project)

(1) Coordinate and fund a state historical marker for Wallace Gardens (Victory Garden)

Host a historical themed “Poker Crawl” night (done July 20, 2023: Poker on the Avenue)

Host a “High Tea” at an historical venue

Host an Italian Cooking Class/Dinner night that highlights the Italian influence in the area

Host a vintage Garden Party (could highlight Wallace Gardens or a significant area home/property)

Host a “This Old House” renovation/repair seminar (in collaboration with Ohio History Connection or Columbus Landmarks) (tentatively scheduled Fall 2024)

Create a video history of 2015 West Fifth Avenue (unedited video done in 2021 by Kim Sides)

Host a Love Our Trees contest

Create a written history of the COVID experience in Grandview Heights and Marble Cliff

Add to the “Reminiscences” section of the web site - written and/or oral histories from local individuals

Scavenger Hunt of Local History

Work with GHHS to create/support a student history club (working wiht GHS faculty for January 2024 implementation)

Student coordinated display case at GHS (working wiht GHS faculty for January 2024 implementation)

Participate in Community Activities: Memorial Day Parade (participated in 2023), Grandview Hop (booth), Community-Wide Garage sale (fundraise), Concerts on the Lawn (sponsor), GHS Homecoming, Chocolate Walk (site), Tour de Grandview, Cakewalk, Ox Roast, Holiday in the Heights
