The Sells Brothers Circus started in Columbus and wintered in Sellsville, just north of King Avenue near the Grandview boundary. At one point they were the second largest circus in the nation, with tours that took them all over the country

Frank “Dude” Higgs poses in a photo taken by Life magazine’s Clare Boothe Luce in front of his Chinese China National Aviation Corp. transport airplane in 1942, when Luce was on assignment in Burma for the magazine. Higgs flew Luce and others from Lashio, Burma after the Japanese threatened the eastern coast.

Lola Celli was reported missing from near her family home in Grandview in February 1946. Still a cold case, it was called "the red shoe mystery." The case has been featured on network television cold case shows.

Larry Larson was finishing his first year as the GHHS athletic director when this photograph was taken for the 1979 Highlander. He joined the school district in 1966 and served in many capacities, including head football coach from 1976 to 1982.
